South Carolina has a rich history that started in 1540. It is one of the 13 original colonies that were explored as Europeans began coming over to what they called the "New World". Today, it has everything from museums and historic sites to beautiful beaches and garden views. With a pleasant climate, locals love the area and with all of the attractions, tourists often visit the state as well. When you look into the hotels South Carolina has to offer, you will first want to decide which city you want to visit.

There are many options when it comes to entertaining cities within the state of South Carolina. Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular cities in the state as far as tourism is concerned. The fun in this city starts on the beach with over 60 miles of sand and plenty of water sports opportunities. However, the fun continues miles away from the beach on the golf courses, in the area amusement parks, on cruise boats and in museums. There is truly something for everyone in this action-packed city.

If you visit Myrtle Beach at the right time of the year, you can enjoy one of the many award-winning festivals that occur on an annual basis. The Sun Fun Festival starts the summer season while the Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo runs all the way from April to October. December too has its own special event with the Christmas Towne holiday festival.

Myrtle Beach is a city of tranquility that allows relaxation to occur alongside plenty of fun. You can lounge on the beach, enjoy endless amounts of shopping, delicious dining and plenty of family-friendly events and activities.

Charleston, South Carolina is another formidable option. One of the most fun activities in this city is an old-fashioned carriage tour. You can take part in a classic custom as you tour the city in a carriage led by a horse. The tours offer views of the architecture and some of the most beautiful and historic areas of the city. After the hour-long tour, you may have a better idea of what you want to go back and see on your own later.

The Charleston Waterfront Park is the perfect place to relax in peace after a long day of traveling or sightseeing. The park has over 1,000 feet of space along the harbor with plenty of walking paths that allow wonderful views of the water. There are also large swings available for families to sit and watch the ships move in and out of the harbor. You can enjoy an old-fashioned bench in the shade as you watch locals and other visitors walk along the tree lined paths. The park even has two artful fountains in which children are allowed to play and splash.

The South Carolina Aquarium is a delight from the second you enter the building. The center actually extends out over the harbor and the first thing you see when you walk in is a large stained glass wall. You can spend an entire day walking through the aquarium exploring the rivers, the swamps and the 300,000-gallon, great ocean exhibit.

Hilton Head is another excellent option when it comes to South Carolina cities. This city has many impressive attractions as well including the stately Harbour Town Lighthouse. This lighthouse is the defining landmark in the area. It was built in 1970 and stands 90 feet tall. Visitors can climb the spiraling steps and receive a breathtaking panoramic view of the area. The inside of the lighthouse also holds a museum and a charming shop with all sorts of unique items.

The Marina Village in Hilton Head has everything you need in the way of entertainment. You can take a look at shops, enjoy crafts and choose from the many different restaurants or even parasail or go fishing. Whenever you have time between activities, the Marina Village is the perfect place to kill an hour or two.

Once you have chosen a city location, you can decide between the various hotels South Carolina has to offer visitors. The hotels range in location and price as well as features and amenities depending on the city. You can choose hotels that make it easy to do work while you are in the area, or accommodations that allow you to relax. Whatever you need in hotels South Carolina has an option that should work for your trip.
